Fertiliser contracts go to French firm

(Capital) A French company has won all the contracts tendered in the last round of fertilizer procurement this farming season.
Yara France International was the winner for all the tendered lots that opened on Friday, March 6.
The company, which has been supplying fertilizers to Ethiopia for the last 17 years, offered the best price for the purchase of 75,000 metric tons of UREA out of three competing companies; the two contenders being Ameropa of Germany and Libodan of Libya.
Yara offered three different prices for the three lots of 25,000 metric tons: 369.8 dollar per tonne for the first lot; 367.4 for the second, and 366.8 dollars for the third.
According to sources from the Agriculture Inputs Supplies Enterprise (AISE), which is the only organization that processes fertiliser tenders in the country, the offered prices and technical documents shows that Yara is the best company for the supply of the product.
In this farming season Yara won a tender of 120,000 metric tons of DAP and 55,000 metric tons of UREA in two previous tenders making the amount Yara would supply in this farming season
